RIP, Vishnu and C Ashwath

As the New Year is approaching,Kannada Film Fraternity is deeply sadenned and shocked by the demises of two great artists,Vishnuvardhan and C Ashwath(a singer).

Saahasasimha Vishnuvardhan breathed his last due to Cardiac arrest in the wee hours of today morning at around 3am in Mysore. His Real Name was “Sampath Kumar”. He is survived by his wife Bharati and daughters,Keerthi and Chandana.

He made his debut in Kannada film industry in the movie Nagarahaavu for which he received great acclamation. The song “Haavina Dvesha” from the same movie is famous even today!

He has also acted in many superhit Kannada movies like BandhanamSuprabhata,Laali,Mutthina Haara,Aapthamitra etc. He has won many film fare awards for his excellent acting skills and performances. He was also confered the honorary Doctrate by the Banagalore University in 2005.

C Ashwath, noted Sugamasangeetha artist passed away on 29th December 2009,on his 71st birthday. He was suffering from renal and kidney failures. He was an Indian music composer of Bhavageete and Janapada Geetein the Kannada language. He was also a singer, and had sung many of his own compositions.

He is, perhaps the only Music Director in Karnataka, to have carved a niche of his own in all three fields that demand music as an element of expression: Theatre, Sugam Sangeetha and Film. As both a singer and composer, he was extremely popular in Karnataka and among Kannadigas all over the world. His concert in Bangalore in 2005 was attended by a crowd of almost 100,000 people. He has also given concerts outside India, like in Melbourne for Melanudi kannada sangha and few others in UK

The loss of these two great personalities are irreplacable! May their souls “Rest in Peace”!
